SPRINGFIELD — Nicebox, a community-based nonprofit organization, recently delivered its 2,000th care package to the Friends of the Homeless in Springfield.
The care packages are small containers of personal care items used by the homeless and poor. The so-called Tidy Packs and clothing have been regularly provided during the past year to Friends of the Homeless, an emergency shelter and resource center on Worthington Street, officials said.
In addition, Palmer Paving, which helped create Nicebox, has made a $22,000 pledge to support the services and programs provided by Friends of the Homeless, the homeless services organization announced.
The one-year anniversary of the collaboration was marked by Nicebox donating the 2,000th Tidy Pack and 90 pairs of work pants for Friends of the Homeless to distribute to its visitors and tenants through the Essential Thrift store.
