To help meet the emergency shelter needs of our community, Friends of the Homeless has for the second year in a row opened a winter overflow shelter with the gracious support of the Roman Catholic diocese. The diocese has donated the basement of the St. Francis chapel allowing the Friends to provide shelter to another 30 individuals per night during the coldest months. Staffing costs are also offset by a strong contingent of faith-based community volunteers. The balance of costs were paid by the state last year but no indication has been made that there will be any state support in this difficult year.
If you are interested in volunteering, please email foh-info@comcast.net. To donate, please use any of the PayPal buttons on this website. And thank you for your ongoing support for our efforts. When any one receives help, we are all uplifted. Happy Holidays!
