In keeping with the mission of Friends of the Homeless, Inc., our goal is to help every individual obtain permanent housing. To that end, Friends of the Homeless offers every shelter guest case management aimed at overcoming an individual's obstacles to housing. Friends of the Homeless, Inc. also offers several on-site housing options:
A limited number of rooms, owned and managed by Friends of the Homeless Inc., are available for those homeless individuals who need longer term housing. There are currently a maximum of 20 rooms available for women and 40 rooms available for men to rent.
These rooms are located on the upper floors of the 769 Worthington Street Friends of the Homeless building, called Worthington House. These rooms provide access to shared bathing and cooking facilities and provide each resident with a bed, bureau, chair and space for their belongings.
The common kitchen area also doubles as a TV and single-sex social gathering area, for tenants only.
The Friends of the Homeless also owns and manages18 efficiency apartments for low-income, single person occupancy located at 501 Worthington Street. Each apartment has a separate kitchen, bath, and sleeping area.
The apartments are located on floors directly over the Day Center. These are rental units and tenants have the associated rights and privileges, as well as responsibilities, that come with independent living.
