Shelter Information

We provide short term, emergency shelter for individuals who are homeless.  A map of our locations is available here.

Overnight shelter:

The men's shelter is located at 769 Worthington Street in Springfield. We are currently undergoing renovations, so the men's shelter is temporarily operating next door at 755 Worthington Street.  This shelter is for single men 18 years of age or older. It opens for intake at 5:30 PM.

The women's shelter is located at 501-503 Worthington Street. It provides overnight shelter for single women 18 or older. Women leave the shelter by 8:30 AM each day.

Shower facilities are available for our shelter guests.

Day Center:

Monday through Friday, we operate a Day Center on the ground floor of 503 Worthington Street. There are various programs available from 8:00 AM through 4:30 PM. The Day Center is closed on weekends and holidays. Case Management services are also provided at this location.  Telephone and laundry facilities are available to people staying at our shelters.

The Dining Room, located at 755 Worthington Street, serves as an overflow facility for the Day Center during inclement weather.   The Dining Room also serves as a day shelter on weekends and holidays. Meals are available at scheduled meal times.

Federal Funding for this service was cut completely this year, so Friends of the Homeless must raise the entire operating budget for day shelter.
